California has announced a $267 million initiative to combat the rise in brazen store thefts happening across the state. The money will be distributed through grants to 55 agencies, including local police departments, sheriff’s offices, and district attorney’s offices. The grants will be distributed over the next three years to help these agencies create investigative units, increase foot patrols, purchase advanced surveillance technology, and crack down on vehicle and catalytic converter theft.
