DeSantis Expresses Concern Over Trump’s Reaction to Terror Attack in Israel

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is raising questions about former President Donald Trump’s ability to lead the U.S. following his response to the recent Hamas terror attack in Israel. As the chaos unfolds in Israel, Mr. Trump criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for being ill-prepared for the attack. He also blamed Netanyahu for not assisting when the Trump administration carried out a drone strike in Iraq that killed Iranian major general Qasem Soleimani. DeSantis believes that Trump’s criticism stems from his ongoing resentment towards Netanyahu for congratulating President Biden after the 2020 election.

DeSantis expressed his concerns during a speech at the Institute for Politics at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. He questioned why Trump would bring up Soleimani when Israel is facing one of its worst attacks. DeSantis emphasized the importance of treating allies with respect and not allowing personal grudges to influence decision-making.

The Washington Times reached out to the Trump campaign for a comment but did not receive a response. Trump and Netanyahu were once allies, but their relationship soured after Netanyahu acknowledged Biden’s victory while Trump contested the outcome. Trump reportedly said, “I haven’t spoken to him [Netanyahu] since. F**k him.”

DeSantis finds it alarming that Trump continues to hold a grudge and bring it up in a time of crisis. He believes that elected leaders should base decisions on what is best for the people they represent, rather than personal grievances. DeSantis also highlighted his own approach to politics, stating that he does not let personal feelings influence his actions and strives to rise above the drama and circus-like atmosphere that politics has become.

In his bid for the 2024 GOP presidential race, DeSantis is trying to regain momentum. He is focusing on a strong showing in Iowa to gain momentum heading into the New Hampshire primary. Polls in New Hampshire currently place him in third place behind former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, while Trump maintains a significant lead over his rivals in both states.

In conclusion, DeSantis is raising concerns about Trump’s temperament and his ability to lead effectively in response to the recent terror attack in Israel. DeSantis emphasizes the importance of treating allies with respect and making decisions based on the best interests of the people.
