Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken it upon himself to provide support to Israel from the state of Florida. He recently announced that Florida has sent two cargo planes filled with critically needed supplies to Israel. This comes after he helped arrange a flight for 270 Americans who were stranded in Israel following a devastating Hamas terrorist attack.
Governor DeSantis stated, “With the lack of leadership in Washington, we are stepping up to help our allies in Israel who are in need of supplies and our support.” He further emphasized that as they continue to bring back stranded Americans, they will also ensure that necessary healthcare supplies are sent to Israel to care for the injured.
In addition to assisting Israel, Governor DeSantis criticized the Biden administration’s plan to provide aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, the same region from where Hamas terrorists launched their attack. He questioned why the focus is on sending humanitarian aid that could potentially be controlled by Hamas, instead of working with Israel to free American and Israeli hostages held by the terrorist group.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed concerns about the aid potentially falling into the wrong hands, assuring that if Hamas seizes or interferes with the supplies, immediate action will be taken to prevent it from happening again.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management collaborated with the Israeli Consulate, medical organizations, and hospitals to identify the most needed items. The two cargo planes carrying 85 pallets of donated supplies, including medical supplies, clothing, hygiene products, sleeping bags, and children’s toys are scheduled to arrive in Israel on Wednesday.
