In an impressive performance, Brendan Sullivan led Northwestern to a 33-27 victory over Maryland. Sullivan threw two touchdown passes, passed for 265 yards, and gained 56 yards on the ground.

Maryland faced challenges with the absence of co-offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin, who was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Despite this setback, the team fought hard.

Trailing 27-17 in the third quarter, Maryland could only manage a field goal after a 12-play drive. Sullivan played a crucial role in securing the lead by scrambling in the pocket and connecting with A.J Henning for a 34-yard catch. Northwestern ultimately won the game 33-27.

Northwestern has shown resilience this season, surprising many with their performance. After a rough 2022 season and a hazing scandal, they have bounced back under the leadership of interim coach David Braun.

Despite being underdogs and with limited support from the student body, Northwestern proved the odds wrong and emerged victorious.

Maryland’s quarterback, Taulia Tagovailoa, threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns but was sacked six times. Maryland coach Mike Locksley expressed disappointment in the team’s performance, highlighting missed opportunities.

Brendan Sullivan had an impressive outing, particularly in his connection with senior wide receiver Bryce Kirtz. The duo showcased great chemistry throughout the game.

Northwestern’s victory provides them with a much-needed boost as they prepare to face Iowa at Wrigley Field. Maryland, on the other hand, will look to bounce back against Penn State.
