Steelers Edge Titans 20-16 on Pickett’s Late Touchdown

Kenny Pickett threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson with 4:02 remaining, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 20-16 win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

The Steelers, who had a disappointing loss to Jacksonville last Sunday, have developed a knack for coming from behind to win this season. Four out of their five wins have been comeback victories in the fourth quarter.

Pickett, despite dealing with a rib injury, had a strong finish by completing 19 of 30 passes for 160 yards. His 32-yard connection with Johnson on the go-ahead drive proved to be a crucial play. Jaylen Warren, the running back, contributed with 112 yards of total offense, including a 22-yard run that helped set up the winning touchdown.

On the other side, Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis had a solid performance in his second NFL start. However, he couldn’t replicate the success of his four-touchdown debut against Atlanta. Levis finished with 262 passing yards but threw his first career interception when Steelers linebacker Kwon Alexander picked off a pass at the goal line with 6 seconds left in the game.

The game wasn’t without its injuries. Titans’ wide receiver Treylon Burks suffered a hard landing on the field while attempting to catch a fourth-down pass from Levis. He was carted off but had movement in all his extremities. The Steelers also had defensive tackle Montravius Adams and inside linebacker Cole Holcomb leave the game due to injuries.

Despite some initial struggles, the Steelers made an immediate impact by moving offensive coordinator Matt Canada from the coaching box to the sideline. Pickett led a 78-yard scoring drive on Pittsburgh’s first possession, providing a much-needed spark for the stagnant offense.

The Steelers will now look ahead to their upcoming game against Green Bay on November 12, while the Titans continue their road trip with a matchup against Tampa Bay on the same day.
