Sarah Huckabee Sanders Endorses Donald Trump for President in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Former Arkansas Governor and former press secretary for President Donald Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has officially endorsed Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. Sanders, who campaigned on her endorsement from Trump when she took office as Arkansas governor in January, will join Trump at a rally in Florida on Wednesday.

In a statement, Sanders emphasized the importance of returning to the policies of the Trump era, which she believes created a safer, stronger, and more prosperous America. She expressed her support for Trump by saying, “It’s not a question between right versus left anymore. It’s normal versus crazy, and President Biden and the left are doubling down on crazy.”

NBC first reported Sanders’ endorsement, and she and Trump will appear together in Florida on the same day as the third GOP presidential debate.

Trump expressed his appreciation for Sanders’ endorsement and looks forward to having her at the upcoming rally in Hialeah. Despite being a close aide and defender of Trump during his time in the White House, Sanders had refrained from publicly endorsing him or any other candidate in the Republican presidential race until now.

Sanders’ predecessor, former Governor Asa Hutchinson, is also running for the GOP nomination, but he has been one of the few Republican candidates to directly challenge Trump. Hutchinson called on Trump to drop out of the race after he was indicted in New York, but Sanders was not expected to support Hutchinson’s bid for the nomination.

Trump had publicly encouraged Sanders to run for governor after she left the White House in 2019. Since then, Sanders has adopted many of Trump’s targets and has leaned heavily into culture wars issues. She delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in February, where she criticized his pursuit of “woke fantasies.”

While Sanders has achieved some conservative victories in Arkansas, including the signing of an education overhaul bill that created a new school voucher program, she has recently faced scrutiny over the purchase of a $19,000 lectern for her office and allegations of illegally altering public records.

Overall, Sanders’ endorsement of Trump shows her continued loyalty to the former president and highlights her alignment with his policies and approach to governance.

[unique perspective:
Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ endorsement of Donald Trump in Arkansas further solidifies the continued support and influence of Trump within the Republican Party. It also emphasizes the growing divide between the more moderate Republicans, represented by candidates like Asa Hutchinson, and the Trump loyalists, such as Sanders. This endorsement could potentially sway voters in Arkansas and other states that remain aligned with Trump’s policies and leadership style.]
