Georgia has climbed to the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings, overtaking Ohio State, with Michigan and Florida State maintaining their positions in third and fourth place, respectively.
Last Saturday, Georgia delivered a remarkable performance, triumphing over Mississippi with a score of 52-17. This victory marked the second consecutive week that the Bulldogs defeated a ranked opponent, following their win against Missouri in the previous game.
Michigan also secured a significant victory against a ranked team, winning 24-15 at Penn State. Despite this triumph, the Wolverines were unable to surpass their Big Ten rival Ohio State. Their upcoming game against the Buckeyes on Nov. 25 holds great significance.
All top eight teams in the rankings emerged victorious last week, and the selection committee only made changes at the very top.
Washington maintained their fifth-place position, followed by Oregon, Texas, and Alabama.
Missouri climbed to ninth place, and Louisville entered the top 10 for the first time this week.
Historically, no team with two losses has made it to the College Football Playoff, and only one team from the Group of Five has reached the final top four — Cincinnati in 2021.
Considering this criterion, there seem to be nine teams in contention for the playoffs: the top eight teams plus Louisville.
